FALC.au
Supporting Central Queensland First Nations Communities to Revitalise and Teach Language
My Story
My name is Natalee Forder (nee Waterton).
I am a proud Gangulu and Jiman woman from Central Queensland.
I hold a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning from Charles Darwin University and Master of Indigenous Language Education from University of Sydney.
Forder Aboriginal Language Consulting (FALC.au) began with a deeply personal journey. As a Gangulu and Jiman woman I began learning and reconnecting with my own Gangulu language. This path grew into the Gangulu Language Revitalisation Project, proudly funded and supported by First Languages Australia, and guided by the voices and knowledge of our Elders and community. Through this work, it became clear that Central Queensland needed dedicated, culturally grounded language support led by mob for mob, and FALC.au was created to meet that need.
Today, our mission continues to honour the strength of the Gangulu people by helping families, schools, organisations, and communities revitalise, teach, and celebrate the languages.
We believe language carries:
Identity,
Culture,
Knowledge
LORE
and connection to Country.
We walk alongside community to ensure these languages remain strong for future generations.
Services we provide
As a Gangulu and Iman Aboriginal woman, I offer culturally grounded language services that strengthen, revitalise, and celebrate First Nations languages across Central Queensland. At FALC.au, we support learners of all ages through custom lessons, resource development, community workshops, and language immersion camps. I mentor adults to become confident language teachers, providing classroom support, curriculum guidance, and pathways to further study such as the Diploma of Arts (Language and Linguistics) at Charles Darwin University. While my work is deeply rooted in Gangulu language, I am committed to supporting other Aboriginal language groups in the Central Queensland region, ensuring that all language learning is community-led, culturally safe, and guided by the voices of Elders and knowledge holders.

Gangulu Program -> FLA
Over 20 weeks, our adult learners have built foundational skills - using common words, responding to gestures, asking and answering personal questions, and understanding phrases supported by visuals. I feel encouraged by the progress our trainee educators are making in completing structured activities; they are moving through the educator components with focus and enthusiasm, which reflects their commitment to the program.
